Citizen’s Apology outside the Scottish Parliament – Thursday 2 November at 11am
2 Nov is exactly 100 years since Balfour sent his letter to Lord Rothschild.
Hopefully, 100+ people will be present, everyone with a placard they have made themselves with individual wording of apology for Britain’s role.
11.00: Group from Palestine to lead community singing until 11.30.
11.30:Address by Sandra White MSP (Chair of Scottish Parliamentary Cross Party Group on Israel/Palestine) and 2 other MSPs. Followed by Khaled Khahil, Issam Hijjawi and Hala who will speak for Palestinian women.
There will be a minute’s silence during which we hope all placards will be lowered. The silence will be broken by a lament played by bagpipe. After that, placards will be raised.
Network of Palestinian Photographers will be presenting its documentary exhibition – The legacy of Balfour – as part of the People’s Apology event to mark the centenary of the infamous Balfour Declaration.
